Gantry Cranes

Gantry Cranes (GC) are overhead structures with hoisting machines mounted on a frame or structure. The bridge for carrying the trolley or trolleys is rigidly supported on two or more legs running on fixed rails or other runway. Gantry cranes are for any type of cargo, such as timber, paper rolls, containers and any kind of bulk material. As the performance of the port highly depends on the availability of this type of cranes and their turnover speed, they are usually tailor made to suit the specific port / berth characteristics and needs. These cranes come in all sizes, and some which are extremely large for use in shipyards or industrial installations can move very heavy loads.
