Straddle Carriers

Straddle Carriers (SC) date back to the end of sixties, when containerization volumes picked up and demand for a versatile terminal vehicle grew. There are SC’s in 3 different drive systems, in order to correspond in the best possible way to the respective requirements of performance and service conditions of the individual customer environment. These include, mechanical power transmission, hydro-static power transmission via hydraulic pumps and motors and electrical power transmission via electric generators and motors. Straddle carriers are used in ports to remove cargo containers from delivering trucks or trains for eventual loading to vessels, and to dispatch arriving containers to receiving trucks or trains and for the stacking of containers in the yard.
