My terminal working on 6 QCCs, 12 RTGs and 25  tractors  to handle 750000 teus annually, is it a healthy condition?  Or are there any formulas to define the number of equipment in a container terminal, let say  1QCC:4RTG:7tractors?

Dera Tobok,  There is no formula for this. It depends on what kind of terminal you are operating > mainly transhipment or mainly export&import, percentage delivered by truck, rail or  barge, etc ...  Also the type of yr QCC will determine the number of rtg-s and tractors you need.  My first impression is that with yr configuration you can reach a  production of about 25-30 containers per hour per crane.

Thanks Joris, 25-30 BCH is our best achivement on average we only be able to have 20 BCH.  Actually how is the standard perfonmance for a container terminal? We work 24 hrs for 750 boxes, is it in or out of the standard?

Dear Totok,

With 6 QSC you should be able to do at least 1500 moves on a daily bases taking into account mealbreaks, shift of gangs, time lost for opening hatchcovers etc , common crane failures and maintenance , uneven crane split of cargo, berthing and unberthing etc ....  The reason why a terminal underperforms can be multiple > labour related issues, maintenance problems, equipment limitations, organisation of the terminal transport and stacking of the containers, planning procedures and IT systems, ....
