I´m working in a project with ZPMC and a container terminal. We are deciding if we should use ZPMC Chinese  cab or Merford  European cab in the 4 new cranes that the terminal purchase.  Also we are looking to use a new kind of seat that hinge from the roof instead of the conventional seat.

We want to know if anyone has experience with any of these cabs and seats.

What do you think about:
                                            Vibration on cab
                                            Quality of the products
                                            Comfortability of seat and cab

Thank you in advance

Martin

Hi Martin,  At my terminal we had two quay-cranes delivered last year with merford ergo-cabs, ie seat suspended from the roof, small control consoles on the fully adjustable arm rest and large glass floor areas.  My experience with merford presales and postsales support has been positive.  Both maintenance and operator adjustment documentation supplied for the cabin is also first rate.

In answer to your questions;

vibration of the cabin is very dependant on mounting.  Personally the merford sales engineer and I had many difficulities with our QC manufacturer to get the mounting right.  Once the mouting was correct the vibration experienced in the cabin is very low.

Quality, you get what you pay for.  We are happy with the resulting product even though there was a small price premium.

Comfortability, merford have put a lot of development into their ergo-cab product.  On paper this product looks very good, I am sure merford have product information available if you reqeust it.    We have now had merford ergo-cabs at our terminal for approx 15 months, we have been tracking injury data for our new cabs vs our old cabs and have noticed a definately lower injury frequency rate with the ergo-cab.

Ok Mark,

Thank you for  the information, I´m sure that Merford cabs are from excellent quality, but we also have the delivering time problem. The four ZPMC cranes are almost to start, so  may be  in this project we do not have much time.

Which is your terminal?

Best regards,
                     Martin
