KALMAR DRF TE TRANSMISSION PREMATURE FAILURE
Posted: Wednesday, April 07, 2010 8:24 AM (CCST)

My friend has two units of Kalmar DRF with different production years and the two Kalmar DRF is made in Sweden.

Kalmar DRF made in the year 2004 has been operating for 14,000 hours meters, and now in Transmission TE32000 started not working perfectly, it is fair because it had long operated Transmission TE32000.

But Kalmar DRF made in the year 2009 and has operated Hour 3000 meters, Transmission TE32000 already be in over-haul because the clutch and dischhas been wear.

When I compare the working lives of both  TE 32000 transmission is very differen.

And most MACHINE Kalmar DRF is in production after 2004, which was in my country Indonesia average life time of transmission TE32000 was from 3000 to 6000 Hm.
Can anyone explain me why and what causes it?

NOTE

ALL KALMAR DRF bellongs  of my friends preventive maintenace follows the rules from Operation and maintenance book of Kalmar DRF performed by qualified technicians and experts from Kalmar dealer in INDONESIA

dear fauzan, now that i hear your commets about drf 450 power transmission i think im lucky.. my drfs could reach about 7,000 hours before overhauling the tramsimssion, due to the same cause (excessive wear on clutch discs) according to kalmar local dealer, this is due a low quality lot of discs, but after repair ( i have drfs since 2007) i had to overhaul up to 3 times the same transmission, 5,000 running hours each time.

the question here is, does this problem of bad quality of clutch discs is gone? are you and i overhauling with standart quality discs?

regards

In my former job we got problems in 19 DRF. We had 24, and only the first ones (manufactured in 2006) don't get any problem on the trnasmission.

I have deal with Kalmar (now Cargotec), and the problem is not concern Kalmar, the problem is from Dana.

The clutch discs has bad quality, and Dana develpoted as new model. What happened with most of the customers, they replaced the bad discs for the same design, so...another fail in 3000 or 5000 hours more.

Kalmar has a good after sales service in Brazil, and the deal with Libra was...Kalmar pays for the new discs and Libra for the service toi replace them. The reach stackers was out of warranty.

Another potential problem on the transmission...The pressure sensor...I lost how many I've changed.
