Some of our straddle carriers have problems with the heating of the command cabin. Operators often complain that the cabin can get really cold, especially when the SC is parked. Does anybody else have this kind of problem? We would like to find a quick solution to the problem. Thanks.

We used to have the same problem with our straddle carriers and we solved it by installing Webasto diesel heaters. They are very fast and keep the cabin heated. I hope this helps.

Yes Webasto heaters can be a good option but, although it is true that they are fast, their maintenance can be very complex, especially in those countries with low quality fuel.

The traditional systems that use the water from the motor are very safe and they never fail. Unfortunately in the SC the distance between the motor and the drivers cab is big, making the water lose heat in addition to being a little slow in warming up, especially in very cold zones. Also, if the control system is electronic they are not simple to repair, and the manufacturers resists to supply the spare parts. They prefer to sell the complete unit heating engineer who does not lower of some thousands of euros. From my point of view, the best choice is to buy the equipment with the heating system already installed, using water from the motor. Then, if you make sure that you can find the spare parts you may need in the future, you can easily maintain it and repair it with your own maintenance crew.
